A little more about me
Dark Endurance is mainly a family team consisting of my parents as dedicated crew, myself as rider and trainer and most importantly our horses.
I am Carri Ann Dark, I was born May 1991 in the South West and have lived there for many years, For many years I was apart of the South West Group and enjoyed helping and being apart of South West team. I also wrote a series of articles in the South West newsletter which some people still remember me from.
I started riding from a very early age and as most young riders start out I was interested in the high life of eventing but although being quite successful at cross-country I soon found I enjoyed the endurance scene more. Originally I grew up competing at smaller events with my mum and then crewing her at her bigger events. Very quickly I started to compete at different classes to my mum and began riding solo. I began endurance on Golden Charlie whom I achieved my first bronze buckle qualifier on, when achieving this I became the youngest rider at eight years old to complete 30 miles in the country.
Several years and horses later I continued to progress through endurance and became the Junior Champion on Dream Catcher I. I although primarily see myself as an endurance rider I have also been very open towards other disciplines and had even achieved my WES western riding 75mile buckle along with other successful achievements both in cross country and within the South West group.
I soon found other young riders outside of my group that where competing at a similar level and shortly went to my first young rider camp after competing in my first ever ERs, achieving 1st at the YR ER at Ludlow. After having met a few more young riders and learning more about the larger events around the country, a few months later I found myself competing in my first FEI YR 120km at Red Dragon and completed the ride coming 2nd.
I was later informed about an YR Team that would be going to Kreuth, Germany representing GBR. Rapidly I found myself getting more and more involved with the Yrs before long I was going out with the YR Team to Kreuth, Germany and had an amazing time and to top it off together we achieved Team Silver.
From then I had become hooked on the YR Team comradely and spirit. Yet again I saw myself travelling yet again abroad with the team this time to the European Championships FEI 120km in Ovideo, Spain where we achieved Team 4thcoming 26th.Then a year later I was travelling again to the World Championships FEI 120km in Bablona, Hungary although unfortunately
getting eliminated at the finish.
As of this year I have decided to combine an aspect of my education and my love of endurance. As I am currently studying a foundation degree in Interactive Multimedia with Graphic Design,
I have begun filming every ride I have been to and then publishing them on YouTube for all to see (DarkStudios07)
So far this year competitions have gone very well and the results are changing on a weekly basis. I been very pleased with our team of horses and believe they can continue to do
well in the future.
Keep up to date!
